OUR PROGRAMS

GREETINGS, PARENTS!

Adventure Camp is a place where children can have fun in the out-of doors, challenge themselves, make new friends, and expand their horizons. Adventure Camp strives to create a supportive, growth-oriented community where participants can encounter physical and emotional challenges in a safe fun environment.

I have worked with campers and staff for the past 11 years and have developed an approach to camp that centers on three core elements:

FUN: The main ingredient at Adventure Camp is the spirit of participation from the campers themselves. We foster an inclusive and positive environment in which each individual is empowered to contribute to the atmosphere of fun.

SAFETY: The well-being of each camper is paramount. Campers learn important safety techniques, wear protective gear and are encouraged to include everyone into our community.

CHALLENGE: We provide caring support and encouragement as each camper discovers his or her potential, explores new frontiers, and develops valuable skills.

We offer outdoor opportunities encompassing many types of challenges for all experience levels. Our programs build upon one another so returning campers are able to try new adventures and further their personal growth year after year.

We look forward to introducing new campers to our community and welcoming back returning campers for another amazing summer at Adventure Camp.

Sincerely,
Doug Sutherland
Adventure Camp Director

CAMPERS

Adventure Camp is for children and teens ages 10-17 that enjoy challenging themselves in the outdoors. We limit enrollment to ensure an overall 1 to 5 staff to camper ratio. We group campers by age in living areas and activity groups. Typically, activity groups are coed with 8 to 12 campers in a group. Exceptions may occur if there is an imbalance in enrollment.
We want to ensure Adventure Camp is the best fit for every camper. If you are the parent of a child with special physical, mental, or emotional needs, or if your child receives the support of an aide at school, please contact us prior to registering to discuss your child’s experience at camp.

 FACILITIES

Sargent Center is located on 700 beautiful acres of woodland in the Monadnock region of southern New Hampshire. Our site features 22 miles of trails, a large field for recreation and a 60 acre pond with a sandy beach. Our dining hall serves three hearty, nutritious meals daily. Campers live in cabins with bunks and convenient bathroom facilities – or in one of our two yurt villages. A modern bathhouse supports the yurts, which are round canvas structures built on wooden platforms with decks. Yurts have screened windows and doors, camp bunks, storage containers, and a skylight.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Sargent Center’s first commitment is the well being of each camper. This is evident in our activity procedures, facilities, equipment, staff, and our outstanding safety record. Our full-time resident nursing staff oversees your child’s health needs and is supported by an on-call physician and emergency medical facility. New Hampshire state law requires any child attending camp to have had a physical examination within two years preceding camp attendance.
