13- DAY PROGRAMS

ADVENTURE QUEST


Ages 10-14 [On-site]

Challenge yourself for 13 adventure filled days! Climb on two high rope courses and a climbing tower. Zoom 30’ into the air on the Flying Squirrel. Explore our forest by mountain bike, paddle our pond by canoe or kayak. Master the basics of cooking over a fire and compete in the Wooden Spoon cooking challenge. Hike to the summit of a beautiful nearby mountain. Boating, archery, arts and crafts, and other activities complete your excellent adventure.

ADVENTURE TREK


Ages 10 - 14 [On-site]

Enjoy Adventure Camp’s on site high challenge activities and the magic of a backcountry trip. You will face exciting adventures like mountain biking, two high rope courses, the Flying Squirrel, climbing tower, and waterfront activities. Create feasts over an open fire and compete in the Wooden Spoon cooking challenge. Try your hand at archery and boating. Switch gears and plan your three-day introductory backpacking trip, which is sure to be a highlight of your experience. Menu planning, gear preparation and the Dangle Quad get you ready for a memorable three-day trip.

PIONEER OUTPOST

Ages 10 - 15 [On-site]


Join us for a program that is different from the rest! To start, you’ll establish your campsite at Sargent Center. Your group will be challenged by planning and cooking delicious meals out each day, participating in unique teambuilding activities, and creating your daily schedule of outdoor adventures! This relaxed yet exciting program allows plenty of time for making new friends and experiencing Adventure Camp a whole new way!

SARGENT'S CHALLENGE

Ages 15 - 16 [On-site and New Hampshire]


In 1912, Dr. Dudley Sargent wanted people to be active, have fun and improve health through the out-of doors. Your challenge will begin by building teamwork skills through adventure activities and high ropes. Use those skills by working on service projects in camp and beyond. You will work with our staff on projects for our community. You’ll travel off site for three days and engage in projects serving the surrounding community. As a former camper said, “I learned that when a group of dedicated people work together efficiently, a lot can be accomplished.”

NEW ENGLAND MOUNTAIN BIKING

Ages 13-15 [New England]

Have you done some great riding and want to experience a new level of excitement? This trip is for you! At Sargent Center, you will learn more advance biking techniques and prepare for your trip. Test your skills on outstanding New England mountain bike trails for six to eight days. Set up base camp at two or three different sites, ride all day, cook dinner, then relax around the campfire. Campers should have solid mountain biking experience, and must bring their own bike and helmet. Our staff strongly recommends bikes with 21 gears and a suspension or shock system.

NEW HAMPSHIRE ROCKS


Challenge yourself on the cliffs and crags of some of the most exciting rock faces in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. After each day’s climb and hike, head back to your base camp to cook dinner, enjoy a campfire, and talk about your day. Sharpen your rock climbing skills, take part in adventure teambuilding, and pack your food and gear at Sargent Center before departing for you eight-day trip. Campers should have previous rock climbing experience.

COASTAL MAINE ADVENTURE


Explore the beautiful Maine coast for eight days from your base camp near Acadia National Park. Hike mountain trails, rock climb for two days at spectacular Otter Cliffs, and sea kayak among the coastal islands on a two night, three day trip. Cooking dinner and relaxing around the campfire fill up this amazing adventure. Work on adventure teambuilding and trip preparation with your group at Sargent Center before your trip.

ROCK THE BOAT TOUR


Ages13-15 [New Hampshire and Massachusetts]

Can’t choose between rock climbing or kayaking? Do both! You and your group will do three days of rock climbing on some of the most excellent cliffs and crags of New Hampshire. In addition, you will kayak a New Hampshire waterway. Campers should have some rock climbing and kayaking experience. Before the trip, campers will train on climbing techniques and obtain kayaking skills on Halfmoon Pond. Campers must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 yards, tread water for five minutes, and demonstrate self-rescue skills.

SQUAM LAKE KAYAK TOURING


Ages 13 - 15 [Squam Lake, New Hampshire]

Learn kayaking basics, safety skills, and lots more. Practice on Sargent Center’s Halfmoon Pond and nearby waterways. Prepare menus, pack your gear, and take off for the Squam Lake region for four to six days of exploring coves and islands by kayak. Camper should be comfortable in the water, have some canoeing and kayaking experience, and be able to paddle a significant portion of each day. Before the trip, all kayakers must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 years, tread water for five minutes, and demonstrate self-rescue skills.

PACK AND PADDLE 1

Ages 12 - 14 [New Hampshire]

Interested in canoeing, backpacking, and in camp adventures? This is your program! You will develop your canoeing and backpacking skills, participate in meal planning and gear packing, and build your team with adventure activities. Then paddle a scenic New Hampshire waterway for your first three-day trip. Upon your return to camp, challenge yourself on a high ropes course and have fun in camp before taking off on your second three day trip: backpacking on the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway trail.

PACK AND PADDLE 2

Ages 13 - 15 [New England]


Challenge yourself on this eight day trip that combines the excitement of wilderness canoeing and the beauty of mountain summits. Prepare for your trip at Sargent Center by planning your meals, honing your trip skills, and participating in adventure teambuilding. You and your group will head out for your paddling adventure, then pick up your backpacks, and head onto the trail for a few days of excellent backpacking. Before the trip, campers must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 yards, and tread water for five minutes.

PADDLING ODYSSEY

Ages 15-17 [New Hampshire]

Get stoked to get soaked! You will kayak, canoe, and white water raft on the waterways of New Hampshire. Take part in adventure teambuilding, canoe and kayak skills training, and trip planning before leaving Sargent Center. Set up camp and enjoy an evening of stargazing around a campfire. Campers should have some canoe and/or kayak experience and be able to paddle a significant portion of each day. Before the trip all paddlers must demonstrate comfort in deep water, swim 100 yards, and tread water for five minutes.

LEGACY EXPEDITION


Ages 14-17 [Appalachian Trail]

This summer, make history – be a backpacker on the Legacy Expedition! You can enjoy the solitude of the trail, spectacular scenery, camaraderie, and the thrill of achievement. You will also be a part of something that will continue for many years with many backpackers. Each year, Legacy Expedition hikers backpacked a section of the Appalachian Trail, ultimately completing the entire trail in the northeastern United States. You and your fellow expedition members will prepare for your adventure at Sargent Center. Then head out for an amazing eight to ten day journey. Campers must have solid backpacking experience and be able to hike a significant portion of each day while carrying a full backpack, weighing roughly ¼ of their body weight.

LEADER IN TRAINING


Join us for a two week leader training session designed for campers who would like to develop their leadership skills. Workshops and hands-on training will teach leadership skills, group management, how to facilitate adventure teambuilding, and much more. You will experience high ropes, the climbing tower, on-site mountain biking, cookouts and trip planning the Adventure Camp way. Leaders in Training will plan and lead their own a three day, two night trip, including food/gear preparation and route planning. Start the process of becoming a positive role model for younger campers by taking on leadership roles during all camp activities and special events. Your schedule includes time to practice your skills with campers under staff supervision, as well as time to relax with other LITs. Potential LITs must complete an application, provide one reference, and have a phone interview. Applications are due by March 5, 2010. Questions?
