Directions

Important note:

As of November, 2006, the restaurant and accommodations at Bascom Lodge will no longer be operated by Nature's Classroom. In addition, the lodge is not scheduled to open for the 2007 season, while road repairs are being made. We would like to thank all our past guests for making our stewardship of Bascom Lodge a wonderful experience. For more information on the future plans for the lodge please visit the website of the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR).

Here's a news link as of November, 2007

This rustic stone and wood Lodge was built at the summit of Mt. Greylock in the Berkshires of Massachusetts by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1933 and 1937 to provide accommodations for hikers, vacationers and nature enthusiasts.

The lodge is currently operated by Nature's Classroom in partnership with the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR).

Stone fireplaces, high ceilings with hand-cut spruce beams, and a porch with large windows provide an ideal atmosphere for dining, relaxing after a hike, or just enjoying the finest views in the Berkshires.

The Lodge accommodates 34 guests - four private rooms sleep two each in double or twin beds, 4 family rooms with a queen bed and 1 bunk bed, and two co-ed bunkrooms accommodate nine guests each. Bathrooms are shared and individual shower units with adjacent changing area offer privacy. Blankets, sheets, pillows and towel are provided.

Whether traveling in a group or solo, by car, bike, or by foot, Bascom is a great place to experience mountain hospitality at its finest.

A snack bar serves a variety of trail snacks, beverages, and sandwiches, and the Lodge's trading post is stocked with hiker supplies, maps, T-shirts, postcards and guide books.

The Lodge is open daily from mid-May to late October. Dinner is served family style and is guaranteed to satisfy the heartiest appetite.

Reservations are required for meals and lodging.
